The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Mobile Equipment Operator III – Grader to join and grow its team.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify, rectify, and/or report all possible hazards on routes and inside assigned working places daily while on shift, with a minimum of five hazards per shift.
  • Maintain zero involvement in incidents or accidents, and report any incidents or accidents that occur to the Supervisor within the shift.
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments accurately for every assigned task.
  • Complete Team-Based Job Safety Analysis for every task that does not have a Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Carry out housekeeping activities before and after every completed task.
  • Comply with the use of required PPE for the task at hand.
  • Attend work daily and on time.
  • Ensure zero complaints from customers regarding work performed.
  • Demonstrate value for team membership and active participation, confirmed by the Supervisor or Leader through evidence.
  • Comply with related Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct Equipment Pre-Start Inspections before operating any equipment on a shift basis, and report and correct substandard equipment.
  • Conduct workplace inspections each shift as assigned, and report and/or correct substandard conditions within the shift.
  • Maintain communication throughout the shift by reporting at intervals not exceeding one hour.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently within Standard Operating Procedure requirements and according to the production plan.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to meet production targets safely.
  • Achieve daily planned targets.
  • Maintain zero damage to equipment resulting from poor operating techniques or negligence on a daily basis.

Qualification requirements

Applicants should meet the following qualification requirements:

  • Ordinary Secondary Education, Form Four.
  • Sound knowledge of open pit mining operations.
  • Exemplary grader operation skills.
  • Basic ground control training.
  • Valid Tanzanian driver’s licence.
  • Formal training certificate in Heavy Mobile Equipment from VETA Institute.

Experience and competencies needed

The ideal candidate should have the following experience and competencies:

  • Experience in dealing with multi-cultural orientations.
  • At least two years of industry experience in open pit and underground mining operations.
  • At least two years’ experience in operating CAT 16 M graders.
  • Experience in the operation of Heavy Mobile Equipment in mining or construction, such as loaders and excavators, will be an added advantage.
