Video reporter-retainer (Dodoma)
Purpose
The Video Reporter (Retainer) is responsible for identifying, gathering, filming, interviewing, and delivering high-quality video news stories for digital and social media platforms. The role focuses on producing accurate, timely, and engaging visual journalism while adhering to the organization’s editorial standards, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements. The video reporter works on an assignment or retainer basis and is expected to respond promptly to breaking news and planned coverage.
Main responsibilities
- Gather information, stories and pieces in Dodoma throughout the day.
- Enhance the presentation of stories through the use video and other multimedia content.
- Generate ideas for videos that appeal across platforms for multiple audiences.
- Review & rewrite scripts based on specific need of the story.
- Create 5 videos for MCL social media platforms from Dodoma
- Edits and post 3 video daily and posts stories on multimedia platforms.
- Obtain necessary permissions and consents where required.
- Respect privacy, copyright, and confidentiality requirements.
Minimum qualifications & experience
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Mass Communication or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 2-3 years of working experience. Applications should be in PDF format
