Key purpose of the role
The key purpose of this role is to operate and maintain packaging equipment and processes in order to achieve minimal variability in product quality and maximum throughput while minimizing waste.
Key roles and responsibilities
Packaging process operation
The Operator will be responsible for operating packaging processes effectively and efficiently to support production targets and quality standards.
Machine operation
The role involves operating packaging machines, including:
- Start-up operations
- Shutdown operations
- Running operations
- Waste management during operations
Brand and pack changes
The Operator will support and carry out brand and pack changes as required within the packaging process.
Health, safety, and environment
The Operator will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment at all times.
Cleaning and maintenance
The role includes:
- Performing in-depth cleaning
- Carrying out first-level maintenance
- Supporting equipment reliability and good operating condition
Process monitoring and performance
The Operator will monitor process performance and ensure the production process is controlled effectively.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring process performance
- Monitoring production processes
- Controlling process inputs
- Taking corrective action when required
Quality checks
The Operator will be responsible for conducting quality checks to ensure product quality standards are maintained.
Team participation and communication
The Operator will actively participate in team activities and support effective communication across the production environment.
This includes:
- Participation in team activities
- Communication with customers and suppliers
- Contributing to problem-solving activities

Minimum requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical
- Trade Test in Mechanical or Electrical
- Ability to work shifts
- Experience working in a packaging process environment
