Applications are open for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Fellowship 2026-2027. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a United Nations specialized agency. Its WIPO Knowledge Center (WKC) is the custodian of the knowledge repository, which is an authoritative source for global IP academic research. The WKC oversees WIPO’s physical and digital library collection, in addition to the dissemination of WIPO publications.
The WKC team requires a qualified Fellow to support the library and knowledge services by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data that informs evidence-based decision-making. Working closely with colleagues, the fellow will contribute to the assessment of library services, digital resources, and user engagement, helping to identify opportunities to improve discoverability, accessibility, and service delivery.
Fellowships aim to provide fellows with experience to strengthen their knowledge and professional competence, which they can apply in their professional field once they have completed their fellowship with WIPO.
Duties
The Fellow will provide support in the following areas:
- Collect, validate, and manage quantitative and qualitative data relating to library services, digital collections, and information resources.
- Gather, monitor, and analyze usage statistics from library platforms, repositories, websites, and other digital services.
- Produce regular statistical reports to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
- Analyze trends in resource usage, identifying patterns and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) for library services and digital initiatives.
- Contribute to the evaluation of digital resources, collections, and services using evidence-based assessment techniques.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing citation, bibliometric, altmetric, and other research impact data, where applicable.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials summarizing analytical findings for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve workflows for data collection, reporting, and assessment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Benefits
A fellowship may be granted for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility to renew.
- Stipend: CHF 6,000 monthly.
- WIPO shall contribute towards the cost of the fellow’s travel on engagement and separation from service. If necessary, WIPO may provide assistance in obtaining an entry visa to Switzerland.
- WIPO contributes towards the medical insurance and provides accident insurance coverage during the course of the fellowship.
Eligibility
- Have at least a first-level degree in library, information science, knowledge management or a related field. Recognized professional qualification.
- At least two years of professional experience working in a library, knowledge management, research support, or related environment.
- Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing library or information-related data.
- Experience working with usage statistics, service metrics, or other performance data to support assessment activities.
- Experience preparing analytical reports and presenting findings to support decision-making.
- Experience using spreadsheet software and data analysis tools.
Desirable Qualities
- Experience working with integrated library systems, institutional repositories, discovery platforms, or digital library services.
- Experience using business intelligence, dashboard, or data visualization tools.
- Experience working with bibliometric, altmetric, or research impact indicators.
- Experience with SQL, Python, R, or other analytical tools would be an advantage.

The Fellowship will take place in Geneva, Switzerland and it cannot be carried out remotely. Anticipated Start Date is October 1, 2026.
