Purpose of the role
The key purpose of this role is to operate and maintain packaging equipment and processes in order to achieve minimal variability in product quality and maximum throughput while minimizing waste.
Key roles and responsibilities
Packaging process operation
The Packaging Operator will be responsible for operating packaging processes effectively and efficiently to support production targets and quality standards.
Machine operation
The role includes machine operation activities such as:
- Start-up
- Shutdown
- Running operations
- Waste management during operations
Brand and pack changes
The Packaging Operator will support brand and pack changes as required within the packaging process.
Health, safety, and environment
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a safe and healthy work environment at all times.
Cleaning and maintenance
The role includes:
- In-depth cleaning
- First-level maintenance of packaging equipment
Process monitoring and quality control
The Packaging Operator will be responsible for monitoring process performance and ensuring quality standards are maintained through:
- Conducting quality checks
- Monitoring the production process
- Controlling inputs
- Taking corrective action when required
Team participation and communication
The role requires active participation in team activities, including:
- Communicating with customers and suppliers
- Contributing to problem solving
- Supporting team performance and collaboration
