Tanganyika Blue is pioneering the first commercial Tanzanian Native Species Aquaculture farm on Lake Tanganyika.
The company’s mission is to catalyze a sustainable blue revolution by establishing Native Species Aquaculture practices that support food security, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability in the Lake Tanganyika region.
Tanganyika Blue is expanding its aquaculture operations and moving to Kimbwela, Kigoma. The company is looking for a flexible and organization-oriented Human Resources Officer to support its workforce operations.
Job Purpose
The Human Resources Officer manages the day-to-day human resources activities of the company.
This role ensures accurate staff records, effective employee administration, and compliance with company policies and labor regulations. The Human Resources Officer coordinates employee appraisals, attendance tracking, payroll inputs, training records, and health and safety activities.
The role also supports employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes and complaints, and works closely with management to ensure smooth workforce operations and employee development.
Key Responsibilities
The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Implement and coordinate the appraisal system of the company, including a schedule of reviews to follow up on employees’ progress, long and short-term goals, and expectations.
- Handle day-to-day human resources tasks, including:
- Staff attendance
- End-of-month payroll
- Sick days records
- Advances requests
- Loans requests
- Training schedule and records
- Lead the monthly health and safety meetings.
- Understand and implement all company policies and procedures regarding the HR department.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, employee complaints, terminations, and investigations in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as recommended best practices.
- Review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Perform other responsibilities as directed by management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field for the advertised job.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong spoken and written English and Swahili.
- Awareness of safety and traceability in the work environment and facilities.
- Analytical abilities, with attention to detail, especially when evaluating systems and processes.
- Self-driven with the capacity to make well-informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Swahili and English is essential.
