About Secondary Education for Girls Advancement (SEGA)
Secondary Education for Girls Advancement (SEGA) is a non-profit organization with offices located in the Mkundi area of Morogoro Municipality. SEGA is registered in Tanzania mainland under registration No. 00NG/R2/0000232.
SEGA’s mission is to educate and equip bright Tanzanian girls with academic, leadership, and business skills to unlock their potential, with a particular focus on vulnerable girls.

Vacancies within SEGA Girls’ Secondary School
SEGA Girls’ Secondary School is located in the Mkundi area of Morogoro Municipality. The school provides quality, holistic education to 280 Form I–IV students, over 50% of whom receive scholarships.
The school’s mission is to provide quality education for girls by fostering academic excellence, strong values, healthy self-esteem, and independent thinking, with an emphasis on leadership, entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and environmental care.
Position 1: Kiswahili and Literature in English teacher

Job description
Major function
The overall responsibility of a teacher at SEGA Girls’ Secondary School is to provide high-quality, participatory education opportunities for students, building both academic competence and practical skills that help students become self-reliant upon graduation.
Teachers will also contribute to the development of SEGA as a quality, financially self-sufficient organization that serves as a model to others.
Responsibilities
R1. Lesson preparation/planning and materials development — 30%
- Develop creative, participatory, and integrated learning opportunities for students in assigned subjects in accordance with the Tanzanian national curriculum and SEGA’s vision and values.
- Design and implement schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials that cater to diverse learning styles, such as charts, objects, songs, and multimedia.
- Use varied teaching methods to stimulate students, including IT, videos, small-group discussions, and hands-on learning.
R2. Teaching — 40%
- Teach classes as scheduled and ensure punctual attendance.
- Assess students regularly against expected competencies.
- Prepare, administer, and mark tests and examinations.
- Provide additional support to struggling students, such as extra tuition or counseling.
- Provide advanced learning materials for fast learners.
R3. Supporting individual student development — 10%
- Assist each student in setting personalized academic, social, and career goals.
- Help students create action plans for achieving their goals.
- Manage student behavior and create a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable girls.
- Keep the Headmistress informed about student progress and potential issues.
R4. Coordinating sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities — 20%
- Engage students in extracurricular activities, including essay competitions, subject clubs, and debates.
- Take the initiative to help develop and organize these activities.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Education, with Kiswahili and Literature in English as teaching subjects.
- A minimum of five years of teaching experience.
- Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in email communication and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A willingness to live and work in Morogoro and commute to the school daily.
