The organization is seeking competent, ethical, and results-oriented Legal Officers to strengthen its legal and compliance functions across regional operations.
Key responsibilities
The Legal Officer will:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to regional management and staff.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and compliance requirements.
- Manage legal disputes, debt recovery, and litigation matters, working with external advocates where necessary.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, courts, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support loan recovery activities through appropriate legal enforcement procedures.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the microfinance sector.
- Conduct legal awareness training for staff.
- Prepare legal reports and maintain accurate legal records.
- Open court cases and follow up on their progress.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must have:
- A Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
- At least one year of relevant experience in legal practice, banking, microfinance, or corporate legal services.
- Sound knowledge of Tanzanian laws, contract law, debt recovery procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, legal drafting, and communication skills.
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work in any assigned region outside Dar es Salaam.
Admission to the Bar and possession of a valid Practicing Certificate will be an added advantage.
