Maintenance Fitter
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose
- This position is responsible for Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, breakdown repairs and servicing of heavy mining equipment as guided by your immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
- Takes reasonable care for their own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their acts.
- Performs pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensuring inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
- Ensures that all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Must Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Liaises with the underground shift supervisor to:
- Ensure all work is done in a safe and efficient manner;
- Advise when items of equipment are out of service and when they can be returned to service.
- Carries out schedule servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with the service sheet.
- Utilise skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery.
- Ensure correct recording of maintenance is achieved.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times, ensure all parts are kept at minimum stock levels.
- Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
- Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor / Foreman for scheduling into the workshop.
- Ensure site and maintenance procedures are maintained.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within the UG mining industry essential.
- Strong background working with underground mobile mining equipment, including makes such as Caterpillar, Normet, Sandvik, Mercedes, Toyota, RCT and Volvo.
- At least 2 years post apprenticeship experience.
- High degree of skill in troubleshooting problems on mining equipment.
- Good knowledge of loader and truck maintenance.
- Competent on Auto Electrics, Hydraulic Circuits and Diesel engine maintenance.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn to improve skills and gain further experience on mobile equipment.
- Ability to Drive a Manual Vehicle with a Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Relevant Trade Qualification.
- Completion of secondary school.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
LV Fitter
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose
- This position is responsible for Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, breakdown repairs and servicing of light vehicles equipment as guided by your immediate supervisor and trainer.
Key Accountabilities
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
- Takes reasonable care for their own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their acts.
- Performs pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensuring inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
- Ensures that all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Must Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Must carry out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures and prepare the areas for drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping.
- Liaises with the underground shift supervisor to:
- Ensure all work is done in a safe and efficient manner;
- Advise when items of equipment are out of service and when they can be returned to service.
Key Performance Tasks include
- Carries out schedule servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with the service sheet.

Auto Electrician
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose
- This position is responsible for all preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on underground mobile equipment and vehicles (light vehicles and heavy mobile equipment), drills and electrical fault and failure diagnostics as guided by your immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.

- Previous experience in Vehicle Air Conditioning systems.
- Ability to analyse equipment failure and use equipment diagnostics tools.
- Auto electrical experience on 4WD vehicles.
- Heavy equipment electrical experience.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn and gain further experience on mobile equipment.
- Ability to Drive a Manual Vehicle with a Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
Boiler Maker
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose
- This position is responsible for manufacturing, fabrication and repair of metal structures/objects as guided by your immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
- Takes reasonable care for their own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their acts.
- Performs pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensuring inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
- Must Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping.
- Weld repairs to machinery, buckets and frames.
- Building structure items for workshop and mining e.g. Doors, lock up areas, stands, brackets.
- Use of Air Arc, Oxy Acetylene, grinders, drills etc.
- Designing of structural items.
Minimum Requirements
- Good welding (Arc and Mig) skills.
- At least 2 years post apprenticeship experience.
- Good knowledge of cutting, design and finish skill on metal fabrication.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn to improve skills and gain further experience on welding.
- Basic First Aid.
- Ability to Drive a Manual Vehicle with a Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- Completed secondary school.
- Post trade skills.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
Workshop Cleaner
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
- This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised workshop and maintenance working environment. The role provides housekeeping and cleaning support to the maintenance team while ensuring compliance with site HS&E requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
- Maintains cleanliness and good housekeeping standards within the workshop, maintenance areas and designated working areas.
- Cleans workshop floors, service bays, tools, equipment and surrounding areas as required.
- Collects, segregates and disposes of workshop waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Cleans and responds to minor oil, grease and other workshop spills using approved materials and procedures.
- Keeps walkways, access areas and emergency exits clear of obstructions.
- Uses cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals safely and reports damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Reports hazards, spills, unsafe conditions and other workplace concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Supports maintenance personnel with general housekeeping activities before, during and after maintenance work.
- Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and housekeeping at all times.
- Complies with all company policies, procedures and instructions.
- Performs any other reasonable duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in mining or heavy industry is preferable.
- Basic First Aid.
- Completion of Secondary Education.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
- Ability to Drive a Manual Vehicle with a Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- General light maintenance skills.
