Working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">IITA is looking for a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Accounting Assistant to support the Accounts Department.<\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"auto\">Qualifications<\/h4>\n<ul dir=\"auto\">\n<li>Diploma in Accounting with at least 2 years\u2019 proven accounting experience<\/li>\n<li>Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy and attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in an NGO will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time in a demanding work environment<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a multicultural environment with good interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Written and oral proficiency in English is required including mastery of English grammar and spelling, punctuation, paragraph and sentence structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"auto\">Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<ul dir=\"auto\">\n<li>Assist in entering accounting data<\/li>\n<li>Custodian of accounting documents \u2013 i.e. files for payment and journal vouchers, travel and cash advances<\/li>\n<li>Attend to various accounting queries as may be required by the supervisor<\/li>\n<li>File and maintain financial support documents in hard copies<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the preparation of weekly\/monthly cash reconciliation<\/li>\n<li>Issue receipts for monies collected<\/li>\n<li>Prepare cheques for collection of the Station Imprest from the bank<\/li>\n<li>Initiate and process all approved cash payments in accordance with financial policies and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Retrieve files as required from the archives<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the pension security fund offices on the reconciliation of monthly Pension remittances<\/li>\n<li>Any other duties as assigned by supervisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"auto\">General Information<\/h4>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The duration of the contract is two years renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.
