The project\u2019s vision is to economically empower 900 Tanzanian youth through enhanced employability gained from a high-quality, industry-oriented education system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This will be achieved through the launch of a dual apprenticeship model in electrical installation and plumbing, equipping young people with demand-driven skills. PropelA will facilitate this programme in collaboration with 30 construction companies and public and private vocational education and training stakeholders (VET) in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">In the long term, dual apprenticeship in electricity and plumbing should be institutionalized within Tanzania\u2019s VET system, and apprenticeships should become a strategic HR solution for companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">To support the PropelA project, Swisscontact is currently looking for a Project Communications Officer to be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.<\/p>\n<h2>Position title<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Project Communications Officer<\/p>\n<h2>Organization<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Swisscontact<\/p>\n<h2>Project<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">PropelA<\/p>\n<h2>Duty station<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Dar es Salaam, Tanzania<\/p>\n<h2>Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Under the supervision of the PropelA Project Manager, the Project Communications Officer will be responsible for leading and managing all communication activities of the PropelA project.<\/p>\n<h2>Tasks and duties<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Project Communications Officer will perform the following tasks:<\/p>\n<h2>Communications<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Develop and implement the project\u2019s communications strategy aligned with project goals, fostering strong public relations with relevant project audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and execute the annual communication plan and budget.<\/li>\n<li>Research, prepare, fact-check, edit, and produce professional, high-quality communication materials and stories demonstrating project impact, such as:\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>News articles<\/li>\n<li>Social media posts<\/li>\n<li>Press releases<\/li>\n<li>Speeches<\/li>\n<li>Presentations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all communication and marketing materials align with Swisscontact\u2019s corporate and project branding guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Support the promotion of the project\u2019s dual apprenticeship approach among construction sector stakeholders and public and private TVET stakeholders in Tanzania.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with communications and learning focal points in Tanzania, the regional office, and PropelA in Kenya to comply with regional communications directives, exchange best practices, and ensure alignment between projects.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure project team members are aware of their communication responsibilities and are updated and involved in communication dissemination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Public relations<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Organize events and visits for project stakeholders, donors, and project partners.<\/li>\n<li>Represent Swisscontact at events and strengthen institutional reputation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure a strong media presence for the project.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain strong relations with media outlets and facilitate the publication of project news.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor project media coverage and maintain media archives for Swisscontact and PropelA.<\/li>\n<li>Update the Swisscontact website and contribute content for social media channels, including:\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>LinkedIn<\/li>\n<li>Instagram<\/li>\n<li>Twitter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement a social media plan to enhance the reputation of the apprenticeship model promoted by the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Knowledge management<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Contribute to Swisscontact Tanzania\u2019s knowledge-sharing platform, including:\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Contacts<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Best practices<\/li>\n<li>Key communications products<\/li>\n<li>Events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In close cooperation with the Learning Advisor, develop success stories and best practice documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Support the development of other learning products for national and international audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the digital media archive, including photos and videos.<\/li>\n<li>Support effective management and sharing of knowledge internally and externally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other tasks<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Integrate Swisscontact principles, including gender equality and inclusion of marginalised groups, into all internal and external communications.<\/li>\n<li>Provide layout, editing, and proofreading support for donor-facing documents, including:\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Reports<\/li>\n<li>Presentations<\/li>\n<li>Success stories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Advise project management on communication risks and opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with Swisscontact\u2019s rules and procedures, including the Code of Conduct (CoC), Country Manual, donor requirements, and the laws of Tanzania.<\/li>\n<li>Perform additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Required qualifications, experience and competencies<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Applicants should have the following qualifications, experience, and competencies:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications, Journalism, or related studies.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in communications in a similar role.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated strong writing skills in English and Kiswahili.<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in strategic communication planning and message development.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent storytelling ability.<\/li>\n<li>Digital communication proficiency, including use of Microsoft Office Programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Structured mindset with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster trust across teams, project partners, and the donor.<\/li>\n<li>Existing network in media and with stakeholders in the vocational skills development or construction sector is a distinct advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with graphic design, animation software, and video creation is a distinct advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in knowledge management and production of learning products is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience working closely with international or national organizations in a similar role would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Workplace<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The main place of work will be Dar es Salaam, with a few
