Driven by a core strategic mandate for research, training and services, the Institute\u2019s work now spans a wide spectrum, covering biomedical and ecological sciences, intervention studies, health-systems research, service delivery and policy translation.<strong>Position Summary<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ifakara Health Institute through Transmission Zero Project is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with expertise in molecular biology and related fields. The role requires a strong understanding of molecular biology techniques and the ability to contribute effectively to genomics and transgenesis research activities. The selected candidate will contribute to the cutting-edge Transmission Zero (T0) project, supporting the advancement of transgenesis research at IHI and in Tanzania at large toward malaria control and elimination. Transmission Zero is a global malaria research programme at IHI focused on developing innovative genetic tools to interrupt malaria transmission in Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"dlVaanciesList_divResponsblity_1\" class=\"form-group row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-2\"><span id=\"dlVaanciesList_lblResponsblity_1\" class=\"font-weight-bold\">Responsibility:<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-10\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"p-l-17\">\n<li>Ensure mandatory compliance with safety protocols and procedures within a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL- 3) laboratory facility.<\/li>\n<li>Perform comprehensive laboratory experiments involving the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins.<\/li>\n<li>Apply molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA\/RNA sequencing, and gel electrophoresis in transgenesis research<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to execution of genetic manipulations, including design of DNA constructs through gene editing applications such as CRISPR-Cas9 technology<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to microinjection procedures using DNA constructs, followed by screening and characterization of gene-edited samples through microscopy.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the adaptation, maintenance, and handling of malaria parasite cultures for experimental studies<\/li>\n<li>Perform direct membrane feeding assays (DMFA) and standard membrane feeding assays (SMFA).<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to optimization of experimental protocols and the maintenance of laboratory equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records of all laboratory experiments and findings.<\/li>\n<li>Engage in literature reviews of transgenesis related work and prepare<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"dlVaanciesList_divSkill_1\" class=\"form-group row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-2\"><span id=\"dlVaanciesList_lblSkill_1\" class=\"font-weight-bold\">Skill :<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-10\"><strong>Desired Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"p-l-17\">\n<li>Ability to work as part of the team and independently<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills (Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,).<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>Skills on STATA, R Studio etc. will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"dlVaanciesList_divQualification_1\" class=\"form-group row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-2\"><span id=\"dlVaanciesList_lblQualification_1\" class=\"font-weight-bold\">Qualification Required:<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-10\"><strong>Essential Qualification<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"p-l-17\">\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, parasitology or a related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"dlVaanciesList_divExp_1\" class=\"form-group row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-2\"><span id=\"dlVaanciesList_lblExp_1\" class=\"font-weight-bold\">Experience :<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-10\"><strong>Desired Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"p-l-17\">\n<li>Knowledge of safety protocols and laboratory practices in molecular biology and parasitology related research.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience and strong background in molecular biology and parasitology techniques is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div
