CFPs: Innovative Student Research Grant Program in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Deadline: 14-Jan-2026

The Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis has announced its Innovative Student Research Grant Program to support graduate-level study of issues relevant to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in behavior analysis.

Eligible projects should be empirical, clearly written, and methodologically rigorous, addressing significant DEI issues within or beyond the behavior analytic field. Preference is given to projects assessing the impact of DEI initiatives in community or organizational settings.

Research may be multidisciplinary but must include a behavior analytic component. Projects can be team-based with one principal investigator and funded students may apply for a continuation grant the following year.

The grant awards range from US$1,000 to US$5,000, with one grant awarded annually. However, the SABA Board reserves the right not to award any grant in a given year.

Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to basic, applied, or translational research in behavior analysis. They must also be enrolled or accepted in a graduate program in psychology, education, behavioral science, or an allied discipline that includes behaviorally oriented faculty capable of supervising the proposed research.

Both master’s and doctoral students are eligible, provided their projects are of adequate scope and they have sufficient time remaining in their academic program to complete the study.

Applications must include a completed biosketch using the provided template, a detailed proposal limited to five pages (with references on up to two additional pages), and sections such as Title, Significance, Specific Aims, Approach, Method, Limitations, Timeline, Budget, and Matching Funding.

Two letters of support are required—one from the academic advisor confirming the applicant’s ability to complete the project, and another from the department or program chair verifying that the institution has the necessary resources to conduct the research.

Grant recipients are required to submit a report outlining the use of funds and expenditures to the SABA Board by April 1 of the following year. The ABAI DEI Board oversees the application review process, while the SABA Board of Directors selects the recipients.
